Sponsored Content Policy

Last Updated: August 20, 2026

First For News carries advertising and, on occasion, publishes sponsored content and contributed pieces alongside its editorial reporting. This page describes the practices the publication follows to keep those commercial arrangements distinct from the editorial operation.

What Sponsored Content Is

Sponsored content on the site includes any piece produced in cooperation with a third party rather than independently by the editorial staff. Categories include contributed thought leadership pieces from outside experts, branded features developed with companies or organizations, product roundups produced with partner participation, and native placements designed to take on the visual character of editorial work.

Labeling

Every piece of sponsored content on the site carries a clear label in the byline area, such as Sponsored, Partner Content, or Contributed. A short disclosure note describes the relationship between the publication and the contributing party. The author or sponsoring organization is identified plainly. The label is visible above the fold rather than buried at the bottom of the page.

Editorial Independence

Sponsored content does not pass through the newsroom's story queue and does not represent the views of the editorial staff. The reverse rule applies as well: editorial coverage is not influenced by sponsorship arrangements, advertising relationships, or commercial partnerships. Advertisers and sponsoring parties do not review, approve, or modify the reporting of the editorial staff before publication.

Content Standards for Sponsored Material

Sponsored material, though produced outside the newsroom, is subject to baseline standards. The publication will not publish sponsored content that contains demonstrably false claims, unverifiable medical or financial advice, defamatory or harassing material, copyrighted content used without authorization, or content that misleads readers about its source or authorship.

Advertising

Standard display advertising on the site is distinct from sponsored content. Advertising is labeled where appropriate and follows the practices of the ad networks and direct partners that supply it. The editorial firewall applies to advertising as well: advertisers do not receive editorial consideration in exchange for their placements.
